On October 13, 2023, the KSE ITS PV team held a meeting with the Orela Shipyard team. This meeting was held at the Laboratory of Energy and Thermal Environmental Engineering, Department of Engineering Physics, ITS. This meeting discussed the system design of the FPV pilot project which is planned to be built at the Orela Shipyard dock. The results of the discussions that have been carried out are:
- The Orela Shipyard team plans to use three types of silicon cell solar panels, namely monocrystalline, polycrystalline, and amorphous, with each type having three angle variations, namely 0°, 10° and 20° so that there are a total of 9 solar panels.
- All components other than the solar panels are also placed on the floater. These components can be placed in the remaining spaces on the floater.
- The microcontroller is arranged like a master/slave hierarchy so that the work of the microcontroller is not too heavy. Sensors and microcontrollers are connected via cable because the distance is quite far from land, so the Wi-Fi signal is not very good at the installation location.
- The loads used are LED lights and CCTV. A PV system calculation will be carried out to determine the suitability between the PV installed capacity and the load to be used.
- A list of the components that will be used in the FPV pilot project and their costs is made after obtaining the PV system calculation results. It is hoped that within a week after this meeting is held, component purchases can be made.
Planning is the process of determining goals and objectives as well as identifying and developing strategies to achieve them. Good planning helps the team understand what needs to be done to complete the project as well as the resources needed to do it. Discussions between the KSE ITS PV team and the Orela Shipyard team bridged theoretical and practical perspectives between universities and companies so that the planning became more mature because of opinions or suggestions from different perspectives.
